FAQ (Frequently-Asked Questions)
Q1. Which division is in charge of optical components for optical pickups?
A1. Plastic Optics Division is in charge of optical components for optical pickups.

Q2. Do you have standardized products of optical components for optical pickups? Do you have any catalogs available?
A2. Our products are basically custom-made to suit each customer's own requirements. Our sales department welcomes your inquiries.

Q3. What component has particularly large market share?
A3. Holder integrated type of gratings has the large market share. Recently, we provide a lot of hybrid products such as "grating + relay lens". Additionally, we can also supply a double-sided grating and new type of gratings which can respond to super multi specifications & DPP signal processing. For further information, please contact our development department.

Q4 I have a technical inquiry: what kind of relations between a grating (including pitch) and a simple pickup optical system are given?
A4. Given the following simple model:
LD_Grating_Collimator lens_Objective lens
In this case, and the distance between main beam and sub-beam on the disc is:
(Simple calculation)
S = L×θ×( Fo / Fc )
S: distance of main beam to sub-beam on disc
L: distance from LD to Grating
θ: θ sinθ tanθ / λ/d λ: wavelength d: Pitch of Grating
Fc: focal length of Collimator Lens
Fo: focal length of Objective Lens
For example,
L=5mm, λ=0.78μm, d=25μm, Fc=21mm, Fo=3.05mm
S = 5×0.78×3.05 / ( 25×21 ) = 0.0227mm = 22.7μm

Q5. Do you supply plastic components for Blue LDs?
A5. Recently, material makers are developing light-stable materials. Up to now, there is only one material, "ZEONEX-340R" is on the market. We estimate that it is possible to provide those components with lower density of blue LD light. For further information, please contact our development department.
